Admission Requirements

The admission process at the ACM is designed to meet its educational philosophy that targets serious and dedicated students, who possess the talents of achievement and execution. The college is committed to multiple methods of assessment and evaluation that would allow a large segment of students to apply and yet demonstrate needed skills that guarantee their success and suitability to the program.

Requirements

The majority of our candidates is admissible and could be successful at the ACM. We use a variety of factors to select prospective students from those admissible candidates:

English language skills

The ACM’s curriculum uses the English language as the sole instruction medium. That is why the ACM makes sure that its prospective students have the English language proficiency needed to guarantee their success in the college.

The English language skills are tested through the English Language Assessment Test (ELT), an internet based test, which assesses a student’s skill in Listening, Reading and Grammar in English. The ELT places applicants in one of three levels: I, II or III.

  • A minimum score of Level I is required to consider an applicant.
  • Achieving level III will exempt accepted applicant from the English language component of the Pre-college Program.

Communication Skills

Communication skills are assessed through a written essay in the English or Arabic language. Applicants will be given a set of topics to choose from. The essay tests the applicant’s ability to explain information using clear and simple language and to present information and data to others in an understandable manner.

Math Skills

Applicants to the ACM must demonstrate knowledge of basic mathematical skills in algebra that would guarantee their success and suitability to the program. This is done through the ACM Math Assessment Test (MAT) which is a comprehensive, multiple choice, and computer-based exam.

High school performance

High school performance will be one of the factors in our admission decision because it's a meaningful indication of the applicant’s abilities. We pay attention to the grades earned and the work accomplished. No minimum grade point average or class rank is required to apply or to be admitted to the ACM.

Placement & Registration:

Direct placement and registration in the ACM is achieved only if applicants reach a sufficient level of performance in their GPA and English Language skills, otherwise applicants will be registered to the Pre-College Program.
