ACM’s Engineering and Technology Department Achieves ABET Accreditation in Four Programs

The American College of the Middle East’s Diploma degree programs in Industrial Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology and Electrical Engineering Technology have been accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, which is the global accreditor of college and university programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology. ABET accreditation assures that programs meet standards to produce graduates ready to enter critical technical fields that are leading the way in innovation and emerging technologies, and anticipating the welfare and safety needs of the public. This accreditation is considered a key step in ACM’s journey to raise the level of applied education in Kuwait by adhering to international quality standards and requirements. Moreover, having such programs accredited by ABET is an indication of the quality of education the students receive which meets international standards. The applied learning at ACM also makes students readier for the job market and give them the chance to pursue a Bachelor’s degree. Such achievements would not have been accomplished without the efforts made by faculty members, in addition to the continuous improvements done by the college to enhance its programs and learning experience. Sought worldwide, ABET’s voluntary peer-review process is highly respected because it adds critical value to academic programs in the technical disciplines, where quality, precision, and safety are of the utmost importance. Developed by technical professionals from ABET’s member societies, ABET criteria focus on what students experience and learn. ABET accreditation reviews look at program curricula, faculty, facilities, and institutional support and are conducted by teams of highly skilled professionals from industry, academia, and government, with expertise in the ABET disciplines. ABET is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization with ISO 9001:2015 certification. It currently accredits 4,005 programs at over 793 colleges and universities in 32 countries. More information about ABET, its member societies, and the accreditation criteria used to evaluate programs can be found at www.abet.org.
