Degree Description

The Industrial Engineering Technology program prepares graduates with knowledge, technical, analytical, and managerial skills necessary to develop, implement, and improve integrated systems in manufacturing and service industries that include people, materials, equipment, information, and energy.

The total credits required for graduation are 65 credits, normally achievable within two years of full-time study.

The Industrial Engineering Technology Program is designed to prepare students for continuous learning and successful careers. Our alumni are expected to:

  1. Develop a fulfilling career in the Industrial Engineering Technology field
  2. Solve technical problems efficiently whether working individually or as part of a professional team using Industrial Engineering Technology skills
  3. Convey information and communicating effectively in Industrial Engineering Technology practice

  5. Demonstrate the knowledge of engineering technology standards and ethical values in addressing Industrial Engineering Technology problems
Student Outcomes

The Industrial Engineering Technology program adopts the “Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology – Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission” (ABET – ETAC) learned capabilities in achieving student outcomes. Graduates of Industrial Engineering Technology must demonstrate:

  1. an ability to apply the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of the discipline to narrowly defined engineering technology activities;
  2. an ability to apply a knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to engineering technology problems that require limited application of principles but extensive practical knowledge;
  3. an ability to conduct standard tests and measurements, and to conduct, analyze, and interpret experiments;
  4. an ability to function effectively as a member of a technical team;
  5. an ability to identify, analyze, and solve narrowly defined engineering technology problems;
  6. an ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in both technical and non-technical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature;
  7. an understanding of the need for and an ability to engage in self-directed continuing professional development;
  8. an understanding of and a commitment to address professional and ethical responsibilities, including a respect for diversity; and
  9. a commitment to quality, timeliness, and continuous improvement.
Career Opportunities

Graduates will be prepared for careers in system design, integration, and manufacturing, as industrial technicians, engineering aides, plant maintenance personnel, production and planning assistants, designers/draftspersons, and technical salespeople. These jobs are abundant in the oil and gas, electric power, water, and transport industries.
